A person who laced treats with sedative and provided them to minors at a summer camp in the region has admitted sexual offences against two young males who were nine and 10.

The defendant was detained after eight minors and one adult experienced illness at the facility in July.

The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.

Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

The defendant was kept in jail prior to a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, prosecuting, described Ruben's offending to the court.

She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a youth camp which he managed.

The man conducted a "candy game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".

She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the boys "for many years", and minors had previously fallen ill the following morning.

She explained the man had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had worries in summer 2025.

The legal representative stated further: "This year his family member had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.

"They chose" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."

The prosecutor stated objects including infant oil, ointment and medical needles were found, and his stepson notified the law enforcement about his worries.

She explained Ruben continued to play the "candy game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.

"Authorities" had not responded by that stage," she continued.

The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the situation.

The prosecutor stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the stepson called the police once more.

She stated the man then engaged in the "sweet game" in a space of five youngsters.
